Look Ahead is really disappointed to see that the Government has changed the goalposts in terms of social care reform.
As well as the changes to funding for workforce, which is a massive step backwards, the removal of the £300m investment promised to councils to build specialist accommodation for health and care is a blow to the sector and wider reform.
We believe there is a lack of appreciation that every decision about care and support impacts housing. There is so much we can do in terms of integrated health, housing and social care which will help the NHS overcome its challenges. But to do this we need investment in good quality supported housing. Investment that has been lacking for many years. We urge the Government to find a way to honour these commitments made previously.
