Julie brings a wealth of social care, health and housing experience to her new role. She was Deputy Chief Executive of Westminster City Council where she had responsibility for adults’, children’s and strategic housing and homelessness services. In 2005, Julie was elected President of ADASS, the association of directors of adult social services and from 2007-2012, she was Chief Executive of the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE). In 2009 she was awarded a CBE for services to local government and social care.
Julie is an existing member of Look Ahead’s Board and has previously chaired the organisation’s Customer Services Committee.
Julie said: ‘It is a privilege to be taking over the Chair of Look Ahead from Stephen and look forward to working with the board and the senior team to continue the excellent work already under way. We face many challenges in the coming years but I am confident Look Ahead will carry on finding new ways to meet the needs and aspirations of our customers who are at the heart of everything we do.’
