We are pleased to announce that Baroness Mary Watkins, Chair of Look Ahead’s Board, has been appointed to the board of NHS England as a non-executive director.
Mary qualified as a general nurse in 1976 and a mental health nurse in 1979 and has worked in community, in-patient mental health and acute settings, providing non-emergency and emergency healthcare. Alongside her role as Chair of our Board, a role she has undertaken since June 2021, Mary is also a Visiting Professor at the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care, King’s College London; President of the Florence Nightingale Foundation; and a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Plymouth University.
Mary will bring her wealth of experience in nursing and healthcare delivery to her new role which begins at the end of January. In return we will benefit tremendously from the contacts and knowledge that Mary will bring back to us at Look Ahead.
We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to Mary on her appointment as she joins NHS England’s Board at this crucial time for the health sector.
