Steve, who has lived experience of addiction, was recognised in the personal achievement category – for being extraordinary.
Once homeless himself, Steve went into rehabilitation and earned qualifications, later on becoming a Look Ahead support worker in our Tunbridge Wells service.
Steve has introduced cooking and conversation support sessions, to encourage customers to talk in a more relaxed environment.
He is a trusted and valued support worker who customers say they can relate to.
Just last month Steve spoke on ITV Meridian about our Kent Homeless Connect service highlighting all the valuable work it does in the county.

Steve said: “Today I got an award that means everything to me because it shows how much good can come out of bad. When I was living on the streets and turned to drugs I thought there was no way out.
“But I got into rehabilitation, earned qualifications and now I’m a support worker for Look Ahead, helping others to re-build their lives.
“Today I’ve been honoured with an award for my work by the Kent Housing Group and I’m so proud. To me it is so much more than a piece of paper. It’s a recognition of all that I have been through and achieved. So if anyone out there is struggling I want to say to them you can change your life so don’t lose hope. Anything is possible.”
